I knew that guano was a major Peruvian export in the past, but never realised exactly how big and what a part it played in the countries development until reading that second link which included all the financial dealings relating to it.
Its the research into bag seals and the history, some times world wide but some local, that makes me prefer them to coins. Likewise with tokens, especially where you can connect them to a local enterprise. Admittedly having said that should I ever find a gold coin I think I might keep it rather than throw it away.
