Hi,
I recently found an unusual lead artefact (pictures enclosed) and would be grateful for the help of Hub members in identifying it, please.
Many thanks,

Cheers,

Thanks for all the comments, which is appreciated. I do have a supplementary question I would like to ask of the forum. What if anything

Lead is pretty bomb proof so you don’t need to do anything that special. Just store it somewhere it won’t get scratched and knocked and apart from that don’t worry too much. Wrap in a padded material, put in a perforated plastic bag and then store in a plastic container in dry conditions, with silica gel packs if you have any.Iffy Signals wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 6:28 pm Thanks for all the comments, which is appreciated. According to the Portable Antiquities Scheme…
A full guide on conservation and storage for all types of finds can be found hereOrganic packing and boxes such as wood, cardboard, or newspaper can cause corrosion, especially for lead finds, and should be avoided.
