I find that having things on lanyards or curly cords are more of a hinderence so I don't bother. But each to their own.

Maybe they are sheep rustlers?
My usual buddy often has mole traps with him- its amazing how many doors his service has opened for us!

That's a different approach, but I can imagine it works well...

It is a hinderence to a degree, but not as big hinderence as reaching down and finding your pinpointer or hand digger gone!

Well as you know, farmers talk to each other. He does a good job for a decent price. And when he gets a new job, he's well placed to ask.

More diligence required!

You see how one thing leads to another?

I detect and it is just the NOX, spade and finds pouch. No purse, no phone, no pinpointer, no keys, anything else. It doesn't necessarily mean I won't leave something behind (I have left my spade leaning against a fence several times) but it helps. If I tool as much as some people into the fields I'd leave something every week!
I left my detector against a fence when going from one part of my large permission to another , I got to the next area and thought oh FFS i raced back to find it still where i left it despite this being along a main road
