A bucket.
Anything that I have not already found.

Anything that I have not already found.

Good things come to those who wait.

No bucket list as such , just being able to find an item i can research.
Hammies hold no appeal to me whatsoever.
One thing that has eluded me, that everyone else has probably found is Milled Silver.
Would like one of those with the regional Mintmark.
Gap in Silver coins from Charles 1st to late Victorian, although that was Elizabeth 1st until this year but it has taken 3 seasons to close that gap to 250 years.
Basically just being able to get out and dig, any finds other than rubbish are a bonus.
Cheers,
Dave.

Mine was short at the end of last year, and then keeps getting longer as I see other people’s finds.
On my long term list that I’ve not ticked off yet was
A Saxon or Norman coin
A gold hammered coin
A medieval gold ring
I’ve now added:
A sceat
Any iron age gold or silver coin
A lead seal matrix
A full pilgrims ampulla
A gaping mouth medieval buckle
A standing animal medieval buckle
An early medieval buckle (ideally urnes type)
A viking strap end (ideally silver!)
Any full silver brooch
A fancy spindle whorl
A verval
I suspect that list will last me a very long time
So what’s on your list?

I'd love to find a sceatta, and a styca (particularly one by Leofþegn).Oxgirl wrote: ↑Tue May 10, 2022 3:04 pm Mine was short at the end of last year, and then keeps getting longer as I see other people’s finds.

Maybe an equal arm Saxon brooch (I doubt this will ever happen!)

I've not found a bucket (though I'm getting increasingly close to kicking one) but I found a kettle once. And I lost it. Can you believe that? Gert big thing that I put to one side to carry off later and I couldn't find the blasted thing.
Anyway, no bucket list for me though I would like to end the mystery of why I find bits and bobs of Saxon artefacts but no coinage.

Arh yes, maybe I should have let you know sooner. I searched your fields, kept all the Saxon coins and left you the rest. There weren't that many gold coins though!

Good things come to those who wait.

I try to keep my bucket list realistic and short...
So for me it is
1) Any legible Roman Coin.
2) Any good condition Roman artifact
3) Crotal bell
4) Beehive thimble
5) BA socketed or palstave axe.

I am not hopeful but then I wasn’t holding out much hope of finding an Oxford minted medieval coin last year either then I found a whole one and a half. So You never know

Hope you find your brooch too
