I got offered some free logs last week if i chopped them up, so while there mentioned about detecting as you do and came away with 4 trailer loads of logs and a new permission of 3 fields and a wooded valley with an ancient track running through. Went for a couple of hours this morning for a quick search around one field and found a few musket balls, some bullets, a lead solder, a 1915 penny and this coin which i think is an Irish copper gunmoney halfcrown dated May 1690. It's a first for me to find a coin with the month on as well as a year.
Please confirm if my guess is correct, thanks for looking.

Not a common find! Take care of it as they chip very easily. I had a perfect example that got damaged and I’m still kicking myself 5 years on.

Looks like a promising permission :clapping:
Yes I really don’t like Roman coins, I’m not joking

Thanks for the warning, the edge does look a bit tender above the date.

Nice find - said to be made from melted down bells and cannons, hence 'gun money'.
D2 - 13"x11" coil - audio only.
