Before I settle into some pre-bedtime Spinks, might anyone have any thoughts on what this might be, please?

Came up as an clear 82 on a Garrett; about 10cm down on ploughed farmland in South Suffolk.

There's stuff on there but I'm still wrestling with it... Parts of the legend are visible, and there's an inner circle of dots (sorry, technical term unknown  ) with what seems to be a clear S (though it probably isn't...). Hopefully the photos are good enough to allow a zoom...

Thank you in advance; fingers crossed!

I do not know how you managed that, but thank you. Simply awesome. VERY locally relevant and I knew these were A Thing but have only ever seen photos!
I take my hat off to whatever brand of cider you’re drinking!!! 🙏

Susanna King issued “Boxford Tokens” from the Swan pub in Swan Street, Boxford, in…. 1664!!! I reckon that correlates!!! 😀👍

I think that’d get you a few pints of real ale down at the Swan tonight if you’d donate it to them with the reasearch 👍🏼
Always carefully proof-read what you've typed to see if you've any words out.

I looked it up....the Swan shut in 1994 and is now residential. However its listed on the CAMRA site and says it was known as far back as 1744! So your token gains even more history. There's an email link so could tell them all about it.
