My FLO produced a map showing a load of denarius finds I had made over quite a few months. The only problem with the map was the paltry scale of it. If that's the best the PAS can do they are going to have a fight on their hands if it goes to a coroners court. It seems that the treasure team (or the FLO) WANTS it to be a hoard. It's just from a busy Roman site!
The FLO should know that, he has dug there on an archaeological dig in the past.

If it does you need to do a scaled large scale map of the site with where they are. I have found at least 15 hammered coins in a 10m square that I know wasn’t a hoard and wasn’t considered one. Trouble is they think denari were often hoarded so they look for scatters. However they were also just commonly used coins so of course you’ll get a few on a site with lots of Roman activity where there’s lots of smaller denomination coins too.

Let us know how you get on
Yes I really don’t like Roman coins, I’m not joking

Will do. I also found a lot of rubbish bronze Romans on the site which have appeared on the PAS site but not the Denarius! Mind you, I did start the finds at the beginning of 2019 and still haven't heard from the PAS powers that be as yet. Apart from the FLO that is!

I have a site where I have found 60+ Roman bronzes with 1 denarius and that is not considered to be a hoard as they have a span of over 100 years. I did plot them all just in case but they are considered normal scatter
