It seems Garrett have launched a new PI detector called the Axiom...A quick Google shows a very nice looking, reasonably light machine that will appeal to many. It even has an iron identification feature, but I have no idea how well it works.

Somebody on an American detecting forum has seen a Canadian dealer listing them at $US 750, which if correct makes it a very competitive entry to the market...

(Edited to add, although not a Garrett owner, surprised there is no Garrett sub forum on here given how popular their machines are?)

I'm wondering if the At Pro replacement will look like this.

It is designed specifically for GOLD detecting.

They did a live launch yesterday, (I did not watch it so can not comment).

However here is the web page for it which includes videos - https://garrett.com/sport/axiom

Considering how multi-freq machines now seem to be dominating the mid-high end of the market going for a pulse induction machine does seem (to me at least) be a rather strange way of using the R&D resources by Garrett.

Although it's aimed at the Gold detecting market and the launch reflects that, it has other modes for deep relic, coin and I think beach detecting.

Obviously not much of a market for a specialised Gold PI detector in UK, but there are big markets in Oz, Africa and to a lesser extent the US.

I know there are a minority of detectorists who use PI machines here in the UK, so thought the introduction of this machine may be of some interest to them...

Much depends on the price and the ability to discriminate iron.

If the price is sensible and the discrimination functional then it could be a "cheap" hoard hunter.

Somewhere betwixt $3k - $4k USD seems "popular" speculation.
