I really wouldn't. copper alloys don't respond well to cleaning. If you are really desperate you can clean off the dirt with a soft brush and wax or lacquer them. If you go ahead practice on some lesser ones first.

A brass brush can do wonders if they are not too fragile.

You can gently clean/burnish them with a pencil eraser. It won't make them shine like you're on parade, but it makes a big difference in appearance and legibility.
