Well, "never " really is a long time
& there almost certainly in the future be a detector that comes along that will out gun, out shine ,and out perform the Equinox , So before you consider using the word " never ", it might be better to not say never, but leave a few spaces in your mind for "Not part with it till something better comes along" maybe.
I havn`t ,to my knowledge ever said I would never part with any particular detector because although I`ve thought a few different detectors down the line have been exceptional, such as far back at the early 80`s the CScope Promet and Metadec 2 were outstanding machines I always knew that as time passed others would come along and outshine them , so I didn`t ever say I`d never get rid of either of them because of that.

If a much better performing detector comes out then I will buy one, but still keep my Nox as a back up. I just knew that someone would pick up on the word 'Never'! But if you are limited to just one detector then yes.
VLF technology is at it's limit so not expecting any major breakthroughs, simultaneous multi-frequency is the way forward.

The equinox only has one drawback that makes many people dislike it, and that’s its swing speed .
When your used to zooming along with your weightless deus It’s hard to change to slow and concentrate.

Just to add - The Nox is still a light machine, and closer to Deus weight by adding a carbon fibre shaft, and still much cheaper! The Nox can be whipped about and it actually has a faster max reactivity, not that you would use it at that though. Both detectors will not miss the relatively shallow targets but the Nox will also ID the the very deep ones unlike the Deus which can only at best give an incorrect iron buzz. But that's no fault of the Deus though, just single frequency detector limitations. Now if ML make a super light 15" coil for the Nox then I'd be first in the queue.

I just don’t get why experienced people still buy the 8” single frequency machines, I really don’t .
The targets missed are unbelievable .
I’ve a smallish Saxon field that’s grass only for feed , I’ve done this with the deus for a couple of years and had great finds from it , it did get very quiet until I ran the 800 over it , it was like a brand new site .
I know the deus exceptionally well , great machines but limited , if xp ever get around after 12 years of up rating the remote and use simultaneous frequency , I’d be buying one the day it’s released
But at this moment in time the 800 is the pinnacle of hobby detectors .
The 3030 has better target I.d but as we all know it’s ridiculously heavy with too many confusing settings , so fir me it’s sits behind the 800

The xlt is the best most enjoyable machine I’d used , it’s lock on to a target to this day I don’t think has been bettered

I also loved my XLT. I learned more from owning that than any other detector. Would be good to see a new Whites machine.

I started detecting in 2011, not really knowing anything about detectors I jumped in at the deep end, and after looking at the reviews of some detectors I decided to buy a Whites 3Vi ( I think it was new on the market at the time ) I found once you got to know it after a while it was A great machine and I had some good fines, sadly after a year I had to replace it with a lighter machine due to waiting for hip replacements, so I bought a Deus, it's a shame that my 3Vi has stayed in the spare bedroom for the last 10years, I only charge the batteries now and again, if I could swing it again I would because in my view it has better depth detection than the Deus.

Why not use a swing harness? I rigged one up for my Nox when I got a 15" coil and would never go back now...

Thanks for the advise, I would if I were younger but I am 76 tomorrow and the old body is telling me to ease up, hence the old saying " the minds willing but the body can't cope "

I think that was the flagship replacement for their DFX which I had. Three simultaneous frequencies compared to two. I had considered a V3i but went Deus then Nox.
