Just ordered a Deus 2 with an 11 inch coil, I mainly search stubble and I’ve been told the 9 inch coil is better for stubble but when I had my ORX with the hf round coil I found it difficult on the fresh stubble, yet when I had the CTX and then the Equinox I found the 11 inch coils helped on the stubble better, so that’s why I’ve gone for the 11 incher.
Also I now live in an area where we have very wet autumns and the first snows normally arrive at the end of October so the stubble doesn’t stay hard too long and a couple of my new permissions have some pasture fields which might be worth a look at in the summer.

The 11" coil is a great all-rounder.

I have the 9 and 11 inch coils and use the 11 inch 95% of the time.

Hope you love it!
Yes I really don’t like Roman coins, I’m not joking

Blimey, I'm going to be the only one still swinging a D1 at this rate

Thanks for everyone’s input, I’ve just turned 60 so I thought I’d treat myself, it’s probably the last detector that I’ll ever buy, hopefully it will arrive before next weekend.

Yup, I have all three:
11 inch - 'on the bench' as a spare
13 inch - all the time on beach and pasture
9 inch - in areas that are full of trash but might have some 'high value' bits e.g. in the debris fields around broken-up sea defences or in the gardens of old houses.

I justified buying the D2 on the basis that is would be my 'forever detector' - also that the excellent ergonomics would suit me as I get more doddery. I'm just about managing to stick to that idea!
