I found this curious stone and was wondering if the markings were man made or fossil. Does anyone know please? It’s approx 3cm diameter.

Not seen anything like this before.
Could be a case of Onion Weathering or to give its proper name, Spheroidal Weathering. Just came back to me from my school Geographical field trip 40 plus years ago.
Then again could be a Fossil but going for first suggestion.
Cheers,
Dave.

I am not 100% sure about this but I recently saw a similar one described as a Cretaceous period weathered echinoid (sea urchin) fossil with signs of a parasite infection or defect.

Thank you all. The strange thing is all the indentations are the same depth. I can’t decide what it could be!
