A week later I returned to the same beach expecting very little. There was still a small area of sand showing and I managed to find several quid plus a 9ct gold ring and two junk rings. There was quite a lot of iron about so the following day I tried again with the small coil Unfortunately by then the sand was all under a foot of shingle but I persevered and and found 6 quid, a very brittle 0.4 gram 9ct medallion from an Argos ring and lots of small pieces of junk jewellery. I was very pleased as I'd finally got to see what the small coil could do. It's pretty awesome - sensitive and deep but with a half decent coverage and much less likely to give positive signals on iron, I think that I only got fooled once.

The big coil should arrive soon so I will have even more tech. to play around with.
