flints ?

Following on from a recent post regarding these two possible lithics . A good scrub up and looking like new with additional dimensions .

Thanks for the additional pictures.

The larger flake looks like it might be a form of concave scraper. it doesn't look like the convex edge has been steepened with re-touch unless you can see some - it's a way of giving the edge more strength by making it more upright.

Can't quite see which way the blade was struck. Can you see either a bulb (you may have to feel for it) or ripples on the flat (ventral) side and say which way they go. The end without the white cortex also looks angled - is that the case?

Sorry for the questions but it can be difficult seeing angles on pictures.

Thanks for the additional pictures. The flake that looks a little like a number 6 was struck from the wide end - you can see the bulb of percussion and the percussion ripples spreading away. I'm not convinced there's too much more to say about it. However, I'm glad you posted it as I have several pieces of the same shape and I need to find out why they were made.
