Could I ask if anyone can give an ID on this military silvered button (Winged Crown with Horn above) I have searched the internet but not come across this one? Unfortunately what may have been some text at the top has sadly disappeared.

Is there a makers name on the back?

Looks very much the same apart from the horn facing the other way but too close not to be the right one. I thought it was a military button with the horn as a lot of infantry regiments use this symbol on their buttons also.

Thanks again great detective work.

The design is the same, i.e. crown with wings, horn hanging from ribbon but the details are slightly different, i.e. the wings are slightly different, the crown has different markings and the horn is facing the other way. I would assume that theres not two family crests the same so it may be just the way the suggested family crest has been drawn?

I think the id by easylife is good one but you can get more than one family crest the same sometimes into double figures however yours looks quite unusual and is probably is unique :?: Wings and ducal crown look ok difference as you suggest down to the way they were drawn i feel, however if you could match any of the motto with the text on top of the button then there would be no doubt

Thanks for that. Unfortunately the motto at the top of the button is no more.

Of the livery buttons I have found and traced, the families tend to have lived within about a 30 mile radius of where found and often much closer. Are you anywhere near Winterborne St. Martin, Dorset Keyfits? Though families can move.
