I could use some help identifying this coper alloy object that has some remainings of guilding. The scale is in cm's making the object 1,7 inch in size

I believe that you have found part of a spur strap thingy. I can never remember their name! Post medieval. Nice to see such a complete one :thumbsup:

Thank you Flamsteed and Oxgirl, This helped me a lot. Upon your replies I found more images. I now understand the exact way they were used. Finding more background info is almost more rewarding than digging up the item
