Hi everyone on this glorious afternoon, just got home from, what I thought was, an unfruitful dig in Hertfordshire.
I just emptied my bag and remembered the little square thing I chased round the hole for 10 minutes !
Having looked at it through the lense I saw some markings. To me it looks like an angel of sorts on one side and a crown with initials and numbers? on the other.
If any of you fine folk know what it is I would be very grateful.
Michael

Yep, 1/4 angel. I can just about see the angel now.

Same value as a halfcrown - 2 shillings, 9d.

Nearly the same value, sadly I'm old enough to have used half crowns, 2 shillings and 6 pence. lovely coins, I felt rich when I had one in my pocket, but then a big bottle of pop was 1 shilling and threepence with threepence back on the bottle !
