The dealers will even tell you privately that they aren’t allowed to or they will no longer be supplied with machines. But the fact that not a single retailer ever offers a discount or non standard offer on the top machines (not just Minelab) completely backs up what is going on.
Not sure what you mean by a non standard offer.
If it's so clear why not complain; after all, you have the Hub and the other lot as known consumer groups.
You might want to check under Resale Price Maintenance (RPM) but it could be the case that the retailer is also liable.

And while you're there, does Minelab offer military discount in the UK? I think (someone from the US can confirm) they offer 15% discount at the retailer for current or ex service with proof. If they don't do it here it should be noted.

An offer that isn’t duplicated by them all. For example you might find a machine with a free coil but they’ll all offer the same deal so it’s an official offer by the manufacturer. By a ‘non standard’ one I therefore mean one that is just offered by one retailer and is unique to them. You might see it on one of the smaller manufacturer’s products but I’ve never seen one on a recently released (in the first 3 or more years) machines. You used to find companies that gave much larger discounts but they were more general suppliers who managed to get stock from somewhere - but they disappeared years ago.
Yes I really don’t like Roman coins, I’m not joking

As far as I am aware no detector manufacturer or retailer offers a military discount in the UK. That sort of discount really isn't that common here anyway. Shame as 270 quid off of a Manti would certainly be appreciated.

Probably that it's down to the dealers in the US. :D

I'm sure that's a measure of your skill/cunning in getting the coil over the goodies as much as the innate wonderfulness of the MC ?!?

I usually earn less than minimum wage clearing my local beaches of scrap metal, although I enjoy the outings

From a US dealer’s website.
Minelab's Military Discount Program Minelab offers a 15% discount that is shared between the dealer and Minelab. Dealer participation is voluntary. A dealer is not obligated to offer the program.

The discount is only applicable for the individual listed on document. Receipt and registration must be in the name of the individual. The receipt must include an address.

I like to think that I have got the hang of beaches and I do detect a lot! It helps to have faith in your detector and I love modern detectors. I had great faith in the D2 but the Manti definitely has the edge on small stuff.

I was in Germany most of this week so I only got out twice but hit gold both times, one bit was tiny though. .

Possibly, it transpires, because it isn't until next Friday! :D

Easy to do though as you’d be forgiven for thinking it started this week with the amount of adverts around about it already. The best deals are almost always on the day itself, but not always!

That hedged my bets

It’s always a great opportunity for those who are drawn to the altar of ancillary materialism....enjoy
